Chicago & North Western Diesel Sounds: 1974 to 1995 An Audio Documentary.
In the 1970’s, many first generation diesels were still hard at work for the C&NW. As new locomotives replaced the diesels that replaced steam, a diverse roster existed. First and second generation diesels from Alco, Electro-Motive, Fairbanks-Morse and General Electric could be found on the C&NW system. Chicago & North Western DIESEL SOUNDS documents the sound of many different types of C&NW diesel power found in the yards and on the mainline of the railroad.
The recordings include RS-1’s, S-2’s, RS-3’s, RSD-4’s, RS-36’s, RS-32’s, C628’s, H10-44’s, SW1’s, TR2’s, GP7’s, F units, GP 15’s, GP35 slug set, GP38-2’s, SD40-2’s, GP50’s, SD50’s, C44-9W’s, HE15 and the SDCAT. 31 digitally re-mastered audio tracks.
