These scans of Annual Reports were done by camera to avoid breaking the binding of the originals. Thus, these are not things of beauty. Nonetheless, they can be read on screen and printed out so that the information is all there.
Annual Reports naturally had the statistics for the years. However, the amount of text varied considerably. Sometimes there would be paragraphs of text outlining the accomplishments in detail (but not with locomotive numbers, of course). Sometimes the text would be minimal. The years during the Great Depression, bankruptcies and wars, tended to have shorter reports.
During WW1, the Gov’t ran the railroads under the USRA. During WW2, this was not repeated. During bankruptcies, the railroads were under the supervision of the courts.
